Two officials of the Indian high commission in Dhaka on Wednesday visited the home of the murdered Hindu priest, Ananda Gopal Ganguly, in Koratipara village of Jhenaidah.
The two officials are first secretary (political and information) Rajesh Uike and first secretary (consular) Ramakant Gupta.
Ananda Gopal’s family broke down in tears in front of the two officials. The officials consoled the grief-stricken family and requested them to have patience.
The Indian high commission officials assured them that the administration is looking into the matter.
Jhenaidah police superintendent Altaf Hossain accompanied the officials. He also reassured the family that the police are doing their best to track down the killers.
However, the police could not arrest anyone in this connection even 27 hours inside the murder of the priest.
They have also been unable to give any information regarding the miscreants.
Ananda Gopal, a priest at a temple at Noldanga Bazaar, was hacked to death by unidentified assailants on Tuesday. Miscreants slit the throat of the priest.
